Turning Points in History: The Fall of the Berlin Wall
The Berlin Wall was a sign of Communism, a sign of the Soviet Union, and a sign of the Cold War. For 28 years, family and friends of Berlin were torn apart because of the deadly wall which stood eleven feet high. On the night of November 9, 1989, the world witnessed the beginning of the end of arguable the greatest Communist power the world has ever seen. With the fall of the Wall came the fall of the USSR. The takedown of the Wall proved to be the turning point in the fate of the Soviet Union. Thesis statement: The fall of the Berlin Wall was a historical event that marked the beginning of the end of the once powerful Soviet Union. |
